Jessica Smith is a grad student at Campbell University Divinity School and will be finishing her Master of Divinity in May 2017. Along with being a student, she am also a wife. In July she married her best friend…who also happens to be a woman. There are plenty of challenges that come with being an out lesbian and soon-to-be minister, but there is no denying (at least for her) that God created her this way, sexuality included, and that He has placed a strong call to ministry in her heart. The path may not always be easy, but it is the path she loves and will continue to journey on. In her free time (which is few and far between) Jessica loves to read. Her favorite books include Hunger Games and Game of Thrones but Harry Potter will also be her first love. Jessica also likes biographies about strong women. She always has a book in her hand unless she’s spending the day at the lake. “If I could figure out how to swim and read without getting my book wet, I would be very happy.”
